NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Two people are dead and one is critically injured following shootings in North Las Vegas.

North Las Vegas Police officers responded to the scene of a double shooting in the 3100 block of Plumwood Lane Tuesday night. The shooting happened about 8:15 p.m. at the Cheyenne Park Villas.

Investigators say the shooter and a 42-year-old woman were arguing near the entrance of their apartment before the shooter pulled out a gun and opened fire. He shot the woman and another man who was standing nearby.

The man died on scene. The woman was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition. Her condition was stabilized.

Police say the suspect fled to a nearby apartment. Officers tracked down the suspect and surrounded the apartment for more than six hours.

"Officers on scene made several announcements to the suspect inside the apartment trying to get him to come out," said North Las Vegas Police Officer Chrissie Coon.

When officers made entry into the apartment, they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are still investigating to determine what led to the shootings and the exact relationship between the three people involved.
