LAS VEGAS -- A man with a violent criminal history has been sentenced to 225 months to life in prison, Metro Police announced Tuesday afternoon.
Ocean D. Fleming was charged with 23 criminal acts, including assault with a deadly weapon, coercion with force, domestic violence with strangulation and 19 prostitution-related charges. He was arrested in October 2011. According to Metro, his criminal history goes back to January 1996.
The case took more than a year to put together as many of the victims were women and afraid to speak out, the police said.
It's wasn't until a violent incident in 2011 that set the entire case into motion when one of Fleming's victims called 911.
Metro's Vice Unit said a 911 call were placed by a woman trying to escape from Fleming after dragging her out of a car and kidnapping her.
"This is a very violent, individual, abusive, and pretty cunning," Metro Vice Det. Chris Baughman said. "As so many of these types of criminals will, get to know them, wine them, dine them, treat them like princesses, and then ultimately switch over everything and put them out as prostitutes in our valley."
The convicted pimp has been on Metro's Vice Unit sex trade radar for more than a year.
Police said Fleming made no attempts to cover up his illegal lifestyle and has been seen on a YouTube video called Real Pimp Talk One on One bragging about it his illegal activities.
Detectives said five victims broke the cycle of violence and came forward to testify against Fleming.
