Town Square Celebrating 5 Years

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Celebrating its fifth anniversary, Town Square has become a popular shopping destination for Las Vegans and tourists alike.

The outdoor shopping mall opened in the midst of the recession, but has managed to grow over the years.

When Town Square opened just before the holidays in 2007, fewer than 40 businesses took a chance. Today, the number of businesses open at Town Square has more than tripled, with 120 businesses and 15 restaurants.

Town Square general manager Mike Wethington said success hasn't always come easy with many businesses reluctant to open up shop during a tough economy.

"The whole combination of it makes it a very successful property," he said.

Competitive leasing rates soon brought in more clients and the mall's central location drew in the customers.

"I love the store mix, I love the restaurant mix," Summerlin resident Rocky Finseth said. "I use it for a lot of business meetings, a lot of business luncheons."

Food has been a major selling point for Town Square and new restaurants such as Meatball Spot has quickly become a feature attraction with the movie theater located at Town Square.

As of this month, Town Square is also home to Charming Charlie, Aveda and Stoney's Rockin Country' nightclub.

Wethington said the latest challenge is to move in more office tenants, a challenge for them in the past.

"We continue to diversify the property, add more opportunities for our guests and keep growing," he said.

Town Square retail space is about 85 percent occupied and its office space is only about 35 percent occupied.
