LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police have turned the case of a deadly shooting that happened Monday night over to the District Attorney's Office for consideration of charges.

According to police, officers were called to an apartment complex near Michael Way and Smoke Ranch Road just before 9:30 p.m. after getting several calls about gunfire.

When police arrived, they found a man who had been shot several times. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

During the investigation, homicide detectives identified a person of interest in the case. Police say they found and interviewed the person at the scene. Just before the shooting, the person of interest and the victim got into a verbal fight, police said.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the person who was killed and his manner of death.
