Obama Campaign in Vegas, Reno; GOP in Rural NV

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Democrats are promoting President Obama with a mariachi band at a Hispanic grocery store in Las Vegas and on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, while Republicans are touting Mitt Romney in rural reaches of the battleground state.

Both candidates' surrogates are out pushing early voting Tuesday in mostly friendly territory.

U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis scheduled a midday speech for Obama at UNR while Democratic state Sen. Ruben Kihuen speaks at noon at the Cardenas Market in Las Vegas, an early voting site starting Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney's third son Josh is campaigning for his dad at a pizza place in Battle Mountain, a campaign office in Elko and a park in Ely. He'll be joined in Elko and Ely by South Dakota Republican Sen. John Thune.
