LAS VEGAS -- Henderson Police arrested two men last week in connection with a series of burglaries at storage units.

Police officers were called to a self storage business on Racetrack Road near Boulder Highway Friday after someone reported a lock cut from their rented storage unit and tools and other equipment missing.

An officer who was at the storage facility noticed a man pushing a shopping cart that contained a toolbox and bolt cutters.

The man, identified as William J. French, 21, told police he broke into many storage units with another man, later identified as Steven R. Grevich, 45. Detectives were then taken to 18 storage unites that were broken into. According to police, the suspects would cut the locks, take some items, replace the broken lock with their own and return later to take more items.

When police went to Grevich's home later Friday, officers discovered items stolen from storage units in his truck.

The suspects also rented a unit at the storage facility and stored stolen items in that unit, the police said. When officers entered the unit, they saw two boxes of comic books that had been reported stolen along with various items such as tools, jewelry, electronic equipment, musical instruments and other items.

The men were booked into the Henderson Detention Center on possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and possession of methamphetamine.

According to police, many victims might be unaware that their storage units have been broken into. Anyone with a unit at SmartStop Self Storage should check to see if their lock still works and if any items have been taken. Anyone who discovers their unit has been broken into is asked to call the Henderson Police Department at 702-267-4750.
