CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Gov. Brian Sandoval has named the director of the Department of Business and Industry to serve on the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Terry Johnson will replace Mark Lipparelli on the three-member board. Lipparelli was chairman and his term was set to end in December. He resigned in September to give a new member time to prepare for the legislative session that begins in February.
Johnson's appointment becomes effective Nov. 12. Sandoval has not yet named a chairman.
Before the Department of Business and Industry, Johnson was assistant director of the Clark County District Attorney's Office. He's also worked in various other state jobs, including deputy director at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and state labor commissioner.
Johnson earned his bachelor's and law degrees at UNLV.
