LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police announced Wednesday they arrested George Tiaffay in connection with the death of his wife, 46-year-old Shauna Tiaffay, who was found beaten to death in her Summerlin apartment on September 29.

Police also announced they arrested 37-year-old Noel Stevens in connection with her death. Stevens is a neighbor of the Tiaffays.

"It appears that they have known each other for quite sometime. We believe they met when the Tiaffays lived together and that he was possibly a neighbor of the Tiaffays at one point in time," Metro Police Capt. Chris Jones said.

Tiaffay and the victim were still married but lived in separate houses.

According to police, it was George Tiaffay who actually called dispatch to say he had found the body.

Tiaffay and Stevens are facing murder, conspiracy, burglary and robbery charges.

The family of Shauna Tiaffay is grateful investigators never stopped working on the case and relieved police made the arrests.

"I just can't express my gratitude to them. There's just no words," Shauna's sister Paula Stokes-Richards said.

Shauna Tiaffay worked as a cocktail waitress at the Palms Hotel and Casino. She left behind an 8-year-old daughter.

George Tiaffay is a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue firefighter. According to the City of Las Vegas, he will stay employed pending the outcome of the investigation.

Another strange part of the story concerns an accident that happened Monday. 8 News NOW received several tips George Tiaffay had been involved in an accident. During Wednesday's news conference, police confirmed he crashed his truck into a concrete barrier along Summerlin Parkway. There is no word on why the crash happened.
