Prosecutor Named for Vegas Pastor Child Sex Case

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The Clark County district attorney's office is fighting a judge's decision to name a veteran Las Vegas defense lawyer to prosecute a former storefront church pastor accused of sexually assaulting at least four young girls in his Las Vegas-area congregation.

Court records show that attorney Robert Langford was named Friday to replace the Clark County district attorney's office in former United Faith Church leader Otis Holland's case.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson wants Judge Stefany Miley to reconsider.

Miley named Langford because before becoming district attorney, Wolfson was Holland's criminal defense lawyer.

Langford declined comment Monday.

Holland's public defender, Jeff Maningo, says the 56-year-old Holland intends to plead not guilty to multiple felony charges including lewdness with a child and sexual assault with a minor under 14.
