LAS VEGAS -- A former National Football League star has been arrested for domestic violence at a Las Vegas Strip hotel.

According to Metro Police, 32-year-old Larry Johnson Jr., a former running back, was arrested early Friday morning after a call to police from security at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

Officers said that Johnson met with 32-year-old Melissa Emerson, a former girlfriend, at the Strip property. The meeting turned into an argument and then a physical fight. According to officers, Johnson had several small scratches on his face, but Emerson had several injuries to her face plus bruising on her neck.

In the arrest report, the Emerson told officers Johnson choked her until she blacked out. She also told police she is not sure what sparked the fight. She said Johnson became angry during a conversation and started hitting her.

Police arrested Johnson for battery domestic violence-strangulation. He was booked at Clark County Detention Center. He will be able to post bail Friday evening.
