NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The newest public health center is now open in North Las Vegas at 955 West Craig Road, near Craig Road and Revere Street.
The center will offer several services, including childhood immunizations, seasonal flu immunizations and a food server training kiosk for health cards.
The Southern Nevada Health District chose this area of the Las Vegas valley because of the high population of families with young children and the low number of health care providers. The clinic is also close to public transportation.
"It is located on a bus line and easy access so we are really excited and hope this clinic is a real benefit to the community," the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services Bonnie Sorenson said.
The health district is hoping the new clinic will mean more families will get the flu shot this year. Children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old are at greater risk for serious complications from the flu, which is why the health district is reminding everyone to get vaccinated.
People will also be able to get school and college-mandated vaccines, plus immunization records at the center. The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
