LAS VEGAS - A national company promises Nevadans rapid cash by purchasing gold, but you may not get what you pay for.
The World Monetary Exchange has placed ads in local publications suggesting Nevadans roll the dice and buy a bag of coins that may include gold pieces.
The company tries to entice people to buy the bag for $149. This bag could be loaded with gold coins and other currency, or it may not contain anything valuable. It's a gamble.
Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto released a warning about this company last week. She says the ads are misleading.
The ad looks like a news story, but is not. Plus, the bag you of coins you purchase may not be worth $149.
Nevada isn't alone. Earlier this year, the World Monetary Exchange settled a lawsuit with the district attorney's office in Santa Cruz, California regarding deceptive ads.
The company, which also goes by the name WRME, has an F-rating with the Better Business Bureau.
