LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a 1-year-old girl Sept. 5.

Lenny Haskins, 31, of Las Vegas was arrested on a charge of child neglect with substantial bodily harm.

According to police, officers responded to a call that medical personnel were in a shopping parking lot at Spring Mountain and Fort Apache roads trying to revive a child who appeared to have drowned.

The child was taken to Summerlin Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short while later.

Officers determined that the girl had been found in a backyard swimming pool in the 9900 block of Prairie Dove Avenue. After the girl had been found, several unidentified adults had placed the girl in a car and were on the way to the hospital when they pulled over and called 911.

Police said Haskins left the home at the time of the drowning and was arrested Sept. 11 by Metro's Criminal Apprehension Team. He is also being held on fugitive warrants from California for assault and parole violation. He is also wanted in Virginia on assault and prostitution charges, and in Texas for larceny charges.
