LAS VEGAS -- Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Wednesday that he is going on a trade mission to China and South Korea next week. This is the first trade mission of its kind in Nevada's history.

Sandoval plans to reach out to Asian business partners to help boost the Nevada economy. Sandoval laid out his plans at a luncheon in Las Vegas' Chinatown.

"The more than we can develop relationship and trade with foreign countries, China and South Korea, the more that we can have jobs here in the state of Nevada. It means more jobs for Nevada," Gov. Sandoval said.

Korean businessman Hae Un Lee arrived in Las Vegas 32 years ago as a tourist and never left.

"I love las vegas," he said.

One of his many successful ventures is the shopping plaza and supermarket on Spring Mountain that caters to Asians.

"It's all about economic development and producing jobs," Sandoval said. "The other states have left us in the wake and we need to be part of this." He is also looking to export more Nevada goods overseas, including copper.

"He's doing the purest form of advertising which is knocking on the door," said Terry Wong, Asian Chamber of Commerce.

Last year, Nevada exported $8 billion worth of goods overseas.

Sandoval will lead a delegation of more than a dozen business and government leaders on the trip which starts Sept. 15.
