Red Hot Chili Peppers Play Vegas on New Year's Eve

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The Cosmopolitan resort on the Las Vegas Strip is announcing plans to ring in 2013 with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The hotel-casino says tickets for the Grammy award-winning band's New Year's Eve performance go on sale Friday. The concert will also be broadcast live on a 65-foot digital marquee facing the Strip.

Cosmopolitan officials say it will be the first time the band known for hits such as "Scar Tissue" and "Californication" has performed in Las Vegas in more than seven years.

Previous guests at the Cosmopolitan's New Year's Eve party include Jay-Z, Coldplay and Stevie Wonder.
