LAS VEGAS -- Most of the excitement generated by college football in Las Vegas has taken place in the sports books in the last decade.
With UNLV head coach Bobby Hauck laying a foundation; the structure of the program is taking shape.
"I'm a lethal weapon with power tools in my hand and I'm not good with any of that stuff," said Hauck.
When it comes to constructing a program, it's nonpareil.
"I don't even know how to spell that," adds Hauck.
It's French for "having no equal" and it's something players are buying into. The effort was there against Minnesota, but it showed up on the scoreboard as a loss.
"We've got to get better on our pass rush." We've got to tackle better and we've got to get our eyes fixed in the back end of times in terms of coverage. There's some things to work on and we're getting started not a finished product," said Hauck.
No one knows what that product will look like in November. Right now it's a mystery package with promise that looks to deliver some victories.
