HENDERSON, Nev. -- A kidnapped Henderson teen says she's happy to be back with family and friends.
Police say 17-year-old Melissa Duran was taken from her home Friday morning by Alejandro Manuel Sanchez and Cesar Sanchez. She was rescued early Saturday by police.
Despite everything she went through, Melissa says she plans on being back to Green Valley High School Tuesday morning.
"Being sad and being all broken isn't going to help anything," said Melissa Duran. "I might as well keep a positive attitude."
Melissa was getting ready for school Friday morning when a man came to the door. She says when she answered, he threw sand in her face, grabbed her and began forcing her to his car.
"He was like hitting me, because I was putting up a really big fight," said Melissa Duran. "Then another guy came and tried to scoop me into the car. I just remember I saw my little brother coming out."
Melissa's 11-year-old brother came outside with a baseball bat and tried to save his sister.
"I was going to try to hit one of the guys," said Kevin Duran. "But, he reached behind his back as if he had a gun and said, 'Don't come closer. Don't call the police.'"
Police say Melissa was taken to an apartment near Stewart Avenue and Eastern Avenue where she was tied up and blindfolded. Police say her captors demanded ransom money.
"He would say things like, 'If your dad tries to do anything, we're going to kill him,'" said Melissa. "And, 'We're going to kill you.' And, 'We're going to do things I can't even imagine to you.'"
Melissa says it was a terrifying day and night, but she heard her Amber Alert on the TV and that gave her hope.
"I knew that police were looking for me. That made me feel like, alright, next step."
SWAT officers raided the apartment early Saturday morning. They returned Melissa to her family almost 24 hours after police say she was kidnapped.
"I'm safe. My family is safe, and that's really all that matters," said Melissa.
Police arrested the two men on several charges including kidnapping and extortion. Police are still investigating.
Members of the Duran Family say the two men worked for Melissa's father's landscaping company and had been recently fired.
Alejandro Sanchez and Cesar Sanches are both in the Henderson Detention Center and being held without bail. According the jail's website, both are scheduled to be in court Tuesday.
