Labor Day and Labor Day Weekend are some of the best days to buy a car according to Autoliquidator.com. The site says dealerships have big sales goals for the holiday and are trying to clear out merchandise to make room for new models.
Sedric Washington a salesman at Newport Motors near Sahara and Boulder Highway agrees with the site. "What we're doing now is we're actually giving incentives on the cars we have on our lot trying to make way for new ones so we have no problem losing money selling you a car."
Specials were running at dealerships all over Sahara on Sunday. Just down the road at Chapman Las Vegas Dodge they ran a Silent Sunday Sale. People Could look around at their own pace, pull the price tag, and bring it in on Labor Day.
Shopper Tony Tan says he liked shopping for a car at his own pace, "You can take your time, look at it, decide, and there's no pressure," says Tan. "Nobody's pushing you to buy something."
The site says another reason for the Labor Day deals is it's the last big car buying holiday before Christmas. So dealerships are trying to drive sales before the months long drought.
Shopper Kristie Nielson says she can't wake to take advantage of the deals. "For a shopper it's great, because there are a lot of discounts going on right now and a lot of specials," said Nielson. "And Christmas is a hard time to buy because you're spending money elsewhere."
Salespeople say to get the best deals you should always do some research and find out what the car you want is worth, and shop around to compare prices.
Also keep in mind sometimes the best deal is not always about the price. Consider factors like the service the dealership provides and the warranty on the vehicle.
