I-Team: Judge Denies Allegations of Misconduct

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- After several delays, a judge accused of putting her personal schedule before her public duties responded to the allegations against her.

The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline filed misconduct charges against Judge Valorie Vega following an I-Team investigation of the judge.

The commission accused Vega of three counts of judicial misconduct related to her handling of a first degree murder case in December of 2010.

As the I-Team first reported, Vega ordered jurors to begin deliberations at 3 a.m. to accommodate her vacation schedule.

The I-Team's investigation revealed that Vega recessed court in the early afternoon on six occasions during the trial to attend her daughter's soccer games.

In her written response filed late Thursday, Vega denied the bulk of the charges against her and asked for attorneys fees to pay for her defense.

No word yet on when the commission will hold a hearing on the matter.
