HENDERSON, Nev. -- The nation's first urgent care franchise opened a facility in Henderson Monday.

The Doctor's Express opened at Green Valley Parkway and Horizon Ridge. It caters to patients who want to avoid the emergency room and want to see a doctor quickly. Doctor's Express also offers a broad range of treatment and service.

Jolyn Laney was among the first patients to be seen at the clinic. She was brought in by her daughter, Camille White.

"Well, she woke up and she's just been having really bad sinuses," White said. "She's had migraines and she's just not feeling well."

With no time to wait for an appointment with her regular doctor, she was seen within minutes of walking in the door of Doctor's Express.

Lead physician Dr. Kevin Templar said Doctor's Express is set up to treat minor illnesses, as well as, doing lab work, setting broken bones and even treating nerve damage. Some medical care facilities can not offer those services. It also always has a doctor on duty.

"We really do discuss things up front and disclose it," Dr. Templar said. He also adds that wait time is much less than an emergency room. Patients will also know -- before any treatment -- how much they are expected to pay.

"Your up front costs are more controlled and we tell you what everything will cost," he said.

"It's just a lot simpler," White said.
