Cale Ramaker is thrilled to call Nevada home. "It's been a lifelong goal of mine to work for a television station with a sterling news reputation, that's also in a great western city. Working for 8 News Now and living in Las Vegas achieves both," says Ramaker.
Cale joined 8 News Now in July, 2012 as an anchor. Cale is a westerner at heart – he grew up in Seattle and Spokane, Washington and attended college in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to joining 8 News Now, Cale was the main anchor at the Fox-owned affiliate in Orlando, Florida for more than seven years.
Cale has also anchored in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, Des Moines, Iowa and Lansing, Michigan. He began his career handling radio play-by-play duties while still in college for the University of Arizona Women's Basketball and Baseball programs. Cale graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the U of A.
Cale is a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, most recently mentoring a young man, Marius, for six years in Central Florida. He also oversees a scholarship for BBBS in the San Francisco Bay Area. The scholarship, named after his late grandfather, awards money to kids based on essays they write.
Cale's interests outside of work include activities like yoga, swimming, tennis and golf. He also likes to travel, which helps explain his keen interest in aviation and airlines. A little known fact: Cale flew over a million actual miles on Northwest Airlines, prior to its merger with Delta Air Lines.
He is an ardent, life long fan of the Denver Broncos, Seattle Mariners and Washington State University Cougars.
