LAS VEGAS -- The 2-year-old who died in a mobile home fire last month was laid to rest Wednesday.

David Gouailhardou and two other young children were killed when flames engulfed their home June 15.

David's father and the other children's mother escaped the fire.

The two other children, Skylar Lafia, 2, and Aryana Lafia,1, were buried in a private family ceremony.

During David's funeral, his mother, Jessica Jones, remembered her red-headed son as her "little angel."

"We call him Day-Day," Jones said. "He couldn't say his own name. He started calling himself that, so it stuck."

Family, friends and emergency responders from that day attended David's service.

"He's missing, but he'll always be with me," Jones said of David. "He's my guardian angel now."

Jones, who was not in a relationship with David's father but shared custody, said her son's death has left her traumatized, even being admitted to the hospital for anxiety.

At the time of David's death, she said she was in California to get her birth certificate so that she could renew her driver's license. She said she had hoped to find a job and improve her son's life.

Jones said she has barely spoken to David's father, Shane Gouailhardou , since the fire, but described him as a "great father."

She said Gouailhardou told her that he woke up, saw smoke and searched for the three children, but couldn't find them.

She said he told her that he then broke a back window and escaped with his girlfriend, the mother of the other children.

"If it was me in that fire I wouldn't have left at all," Jones said. "I'd have been in there the whole time. They would have had to pull me out too.

"I would have found him or died trying."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
