LAS VEGAS – The Sacramento River Cats held the Las Vegas 51s to one run Sunday, defeating Las Vegas 6-1 at Cashman Field.

Sacramento jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Daric Barton and a solo home run by first baseman Chris Carter. Las Vegas starter Andrew Carpenter settled down after his first inning struggles, allowing zero runs over the next five innings.

The 51s got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Chris Woodward singled to center field, scoring Ricardo Nanita.

A bases loaded walk to Sacramento shortstop Adam Rosales gave the River Cats a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning. The River Cats' bats came alive in the ninth inning with home runs by Barton and third baseman Stephen Parker.

Carpenter suffered the loss for the 51s. Sacramento starter Travis Banwart won his fifth game of the season.
