HENDERSON, Nev. -- Spooks are returning to the Las Vegas valley. Psychic spies known as remote viewers are holding their international conference in Green Valley this weekend.
Remote viewing is a technique first developed by the CIA and then by the U.S. Army and was popularized in the movie The Men Who Stare at Goats. It involves one person telepathically witnessing something from very far away.
The I-Team has reported that only 40 people received government training before the CIA program was canceled, but thousands more have since received instruction from former government psychics.
Their annual convention at Green Valley Ranch will include some of the pioneers of remote viewing who say there is substantial evidence that it's real.
"There is a ton of credible research that's been well done and is available, but which is dismissed because the implications are too frightening to the scientific worldview, which is that we don't know everything," said remote viewing instructor Paul Smith.
Smith is one of those trained in remote viewing by the Army and is regarded as one of the most credible instructors in the industry. He warns there are hucksters as well.
