Electric Daisy Carnival Kicks Off in Las Vegas

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - As the sun set over the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday evening, the Electric Daisy Carnival began.

"Oh my God, so many DJ's. EDM is my favorite, electronic dance music. It's just the thing right now. I love it," said concertgoer Natalie Franco.

Performers and patrons alike came in costume, ready for the three-day electronic music festival.

"I heard it's awesome, and we love to dance," said Michael Sanchez who came from Okinawa, Japan.

"I'm here for drum and bass, which is the type of music that I love," said California visitor Jessica Freed.

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway was transformed into an oasis of music and dance.

"It's our second year coming," said California visitor Tuesday Murphy.

"We're not going to miss any years," added California visitor Melissa Valencia.

The Electric Daisy Carnival includes seven stages, almost 30 carnival rides and state-of-the-art sound and video production designed to enhance this energetic experience.

"I'm just here to enjoy the music, to be around good people, good vibes," said California visitor Vanessa Franco.

With tens of thousands of people expected each night, Metro Police are on full patrol - controlling crowds and ensuring everyone at the world-renowned outdoor music dance-fest obeys the law. This is EDC's second year in Las Vegas after leaving Los Angeles.

"I heard it was great in LA, but I've heard it's even better in Vegas, so I'm excited," said California visitor Desirae Aguirre.

"I am happy that it is in Vegas. The laws are a little better out here for drinking. The 18 and over, they need to keep that, keep the drugs away, but other than that, it's a good event," said California visitor Ray Gastelum.

"We like the weather. It's so much better. The people are amazing," said Valencia.

Police each night will clear out the parking lots and ensure festival-goers aren't parking around nearby and sleeping. The Electric Daisy Carnival runs from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
