OCEANSIDE, Ca. -- Police were called to investigate gunshots Wednesday morning at an Oceanside, California home where former San Diego Charger Junior Seau was staying.

According to police, Seau was found inside the home dead. Officers say Seau's girlfriend found him inside with a gunshot wound to the chest. The injury appears to be self-inflicted.

Seau played for USC before going on to a long NFL career, most notably as a member of the Chargers.
