NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Detectives from North Las Vegas Police say they have identified a suspect from a shooting Thursday morning that left two people dead and two people in critical condition.
Police are looking for 22-year-old Jose Alejandro Gonzales, originally from Mission Viejo, California, as the man who shot the victims. He was previously known to police only by the alias "Smokey." He has also been known to use the alias Jose Diaz.
Gonzales is a convicted felon. He has prior convictions for evading a police officer and assault with a deadly weapon. He is described as a Hispanic man. He is 5-foot-10 and around 160 pounds. He has a bald or shaved head and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his chest that reads "Forgive me mother for my crazy life," and another on the back of his neck that reads "OC." He may be driving the car used in the crime. It is a gray Dodge Intrepid.
The shootings happened at an apartment near Lake Mead Boulevard and Civic Center Drive. North Las Vegas Police already arrested a woman in connection with the shooting. Police have arrested 31-year-old Ivonne Cabrere on murder charges.
Police say Gonzales is armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about him is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111, or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
