LAS VEGAS -- Thousands of people packed into a Las Vegas Church to see Denver Broncos' quarterback, Tim Tebow.
Tebow is one of the most popular and recognizable players in the NFL. He was in town for the weekend and speaking at Canyon Ridge Church on Lone Mountain Road and Jones Boulevard.
He talked about the "tebowing" craze, football and of course, his relationship to God.
"I am sure I am not the first athlete to pray. What is actually funny is I have been doing this exact same routine for the last seven years and this is the first year people started talking about it and it became a thing," Tebow said.
Canyon Ridge estimates there were 2,000 people inside and up to 2,000 more in the overflow tent. So many people tried to access the church's website it crashed. People lined up hours early for a chance to see Tebow. Fans were encouraged to wear their jerseys.
Fans and members of the church say this is likely a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"The chances that we get to hear a positive message from the NFL are very rare anymore. So we get to see someone like Tim Tebow come to our church and speak about positive things and what he's doing for kids," Robert Plummer, a Tim Tebow fan, said.
Some people even came from other states to hear the football star. Christine Molina traveled from California.
"We rented a car. We got a hotel. Hotels are, of course, not cheap. Gas is expensive. Food expenses and everything, but you know what: it was worth it," Molina said.
The church did not charge people to attend, nor did they say how much they paid for Tim Tebow to visit.
