LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas police are trying to find out how a toddler ingested a hallucinogenic drug believed to be PCP.

Police say at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 15-month-old was taken to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition. After being examined by medical personal, the child tested positive for a narcotic believed to be PCP.

The child's mother and father took the child to the hospital.

Metro's Abuse and Neglect Unit is currently investigating how the toddler was able to get the drugs. The child is likely to survive the incident.

Sunrise Hospital declined to comment and referred all questions to Metro.

No charges have been filed, but police are investigating.
