Clark County Wildlife Board Member Resigns

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Clark County wildlife advisory board member who took heat for a trapping video he posted online has resigned his post.

Tracy Truman told county officials he has been offered a position with another organization and no longer had the time to commit to the board.

County spokesman Erik Pappa says county commissioners will appoint a replacement to the unpaid board as early as their March 6 meeting.

Truman has been criticized by animal rights activists for a tense, minute-long video shot in December in the Spring Mountains showing his dog barking incessantly at a bobcat whose front paw is caught in a trap.

Truman has called the video educational, saying it shows fellow trappers how a well-trained dog can refrain from touching a trapped animal during an encounter.
