LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas sells itself to tourists as an adult fantasyland. A newly-released book shows what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.
Concierge Mariann Mohos wrote "You Want WHAT??? Concierge Tales from the Men
and Women Who Make Las Vegas Dreams Come True" about the good, the bad, and the totally crazy requests guests make in Las Vegas hotels.
"Sometimes, when we get these really unusual, off-the-wall questions, the way a concierge responds to, ‘Can you help us?' ‘Oh definitely, let me just look into it a little bit closer,' and at the same time, you are thinking, ‘Oh my God, you want what?'"
Sometimes, it's a matter of not hearing correctly. One concierge thought a Scottish guest wanted a virgin chicken, when the guest just wanted to check in on his Virgin Atlantic flight.
In another example, an elderly couple asking for directions to a porn shop may seem odd, but it is Las Vegas.
"The couple was looking for not a porn shop, they were looking for the famous pawn shop that's on TV," Mohos said.
Mohos' book features 130 entertaining tales from concierges who work on the Strip. "There is really no end to the variety of requests in Las Vegas," she said.
Some tourists joked about their dream requests.
"A room full of women coming up and doing a lingerie thing for me, so my woman would get her pick of the nice things," a tourist named Greg said.
Mohos says she has heard it all, and it's all packed into her book. "There is a lot of crazy stuff," she said.
