LAS VEGAS -- Police around Nevada are looking for a woman who took her three children from a foster home in Idaho.
An Amber Alert was issued Sunday after police say 9-year-old Ubaldo Guerrero-Lopez, and his two sisters, 7-year-old Mirella and 5-year-old Esmerelda, were taken by their mother, 35-year-old Bertha Alicia Guerrero-Lopez. She is 5 feet-1 and 140 pounds. She has tattoos on her left hand and index finger. She is driving a 1986 gray Pontiac sedan with Nevada license plates, 389 XPR. A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Guerrero-Lopez.
She was last seen at 1 p.m. Saturday on US-95 in the Tonopah area and was believed to be headed to Las Vegas at that time. Police say she has connections in Phoenix and Mexico.
Police in Caldwell, Idaho say Guerrero-Lopez picked up the children about 3 p.m. Friday, but didn't return them. She has a home in Nevada and a history of drug abuse and child abandonment.
"We are concerned about the children's safety because the mother has already abandoned them once and we are not sure that she will not do it again," Lt. Alan Seevers with Caldwell Police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Nevada Highway Patrol at 486-4100 or on a cell phone *NHP (*647). People can also call police in Caldwell, Idaho at 208-454-7531.
