HENDERSON -- A Henderson police officer seen beating a man in a video released Tuesday was identified today as Sgt. Brett Seekatz.
Sgt. Seekatz was disciplined after he was caught on tape beating a man who police pulled over in 2010. Adam Greene was pulled over after he was mistaken for a drunk driver. He was pulled out of the car, dragged to the ground, and kicked.
Police thought Greene was resisting, but he was actually in a diabetic shock.
Greene and his wife sued the police and will get more than $290,000 in a settlement. Henderson Police will pay a portion of the settlement and the rest will come from the State of Nevada.
Henderson Police say they've changed their policies since the incident. Sgt. Seekatz was disciplined at the time and he is still with the Henderson Police Department. His rank remains sergeant.
Seekatz has been with the Henderson Police Department since August 2002.
The Nevada Highway Patrol has also identified two troopers involved in the incident. Sgt. Anthony Bandiero and Trooper John Sydney Cass were also at the scene of the incident.
