Teen on Bike Killed in Auto-Pedestrian Accident

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident at Flamingo Road and Ft. Apache Road. Police say two vehicles struck a teen on a bicycle.

Police were still gathering details on the accident Wednesday night.

Julia Rivera was one of the drivers involved in the accident. She says she just had dinner with her boyfriend and was waiting at the light, when it turned green.

When she started to go, she says a bicyclist darted in front of her. She says she clipped the bike's tire. The bicyclist flew into the other lane, off his bike and under another vehicle.

"I'm kind of shaken up. The kid was young and just getting into any kind of accident in the first place, but especially with another person that was just riding a bike, it's kind of hard to deal with," she said. "Just pure panic, what do I do? What do I do? Just pull over, call 911 right away, just help this kid. I mean he just got hit."

Rivera says Metro is not charging her with anything, because the bicyclist did not have the right of way and attempted crossing when he shouldn't have.

The Clark County Coroner's office will identify the victim.
