Las Vegas Pawn Shop Robbery Leads to Hospital Lockdown

LAS VEGAS -- An armed robbery that resulted in a manhunt and lockdown at Centennial Hills Hospital happened just a few miles from the hospital.

Police say the suspects targeted the Easy Cash Super Pawn shop located in a busy strip mall near No. Rainbow Blvd. and Cheyenne Ave.

"They had a goal in mind and they got it done in a very quick manner," said Sgt. Andrew Legrow, Metro.

Metro Police say three men walked inside the shop and demanded cash, jewelry, and guns. The alleged robbery took less than 10 minutes.

"The economy must be really bad for something like this," said Luis Rivas, who works in a nearby business.

Workers at Olive Garden restaurant, across the street, said they've heard of robberies in the area and take precautions to stay safe.

"We always walk out in groups. They make us walk out together," said Olive Garden employee Stephanie Figureroa.

Andrew Johannsen who owns Hydroponics Supplies, a planting supply store, a few doors down from the pawn shop said his store has been broken into twice since the beginning of the year.

"It just makes me want to keep a better eye to what's going on," said Johannsen who has since put in a new alarm system along with a surveillance camera.

Police said a worker inside the pawn shop set off an alarm which got authorities there quickly and a customer called 9-1-1. Those quick actions helped police track the alleged robbers to the hospital.
