LAS VEGAS -- When it comes to the latest technology, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is the place to be. The show kicked off on Tuesday by unveiling the newest gadgets consumers will soon see on store shelves.
CES is not open to the public but the products featured are for the public and will soon be available through retailers.
Many people now carry smart phones and tablets. Experts say those gadgets will be faster, slimmer and less expensive.
"Thin is in at this year's Consumer's Electronic Show. As we are using more mobile devices, we need a smaller and lighter device," said Jim Barry, Consumer Electronics Association.
There is also voice control activation in a lot of devices including a device that allows a driver to talk to their car.
And if you're a pet lover, you can now buy a new kind of GPS collar that can give you the exact location for your lost animal in real time.
"People who love and adore their pets, you want that peace of mind. If the worst happens and they get out, within minutes you can get to your pets and bring them home," said Christine Jorgensen, Snaptracs.
And if you love to shop without leaving your living room, a new device called Bodymetrics has a scanner that can size up your body shape and size and then let you try on clothes virtually in the privacy of your own home to see how they look before placing your order.
The attendance number of 150,000 at this year's CES is one of the biggest, according to organizers. They say it's because technology plays such a big role in people's lives and it is now more affordable than ever.
"You get to see all the new products all the new things they have to offer. I'm a big electronic geek guy," said Don Taylor, who is visiting from San Francisco.
