Gaming Giants Partner to Create New Sportsbook Experience

LAS VEGAS -- Move over sportsbooks, there is a new game in town and it plans to blow the socks off sports bettors and fans alike.

Cantor Gaming helped the Venetian kicked off its multimillion-dollar gaming renovation with the opening of a state-of-the-art sportsbook where they say people will want to stay and play. It's a gamer's dream. It boasts the city's newest technology in sports betting, with new programs that allow you to stay put or wander around.

"Throughout the game, there's new bets that come up and you can continue to bet. And they have an Android application which will allow you to bet anywhere else in the casino," said John Caparella, president of Venetian-Palazzo.

"We look at it as a Wall Street model, where people can buy and sell and if you don't like your trade, you can trade out of your trade," said Lee Amaitis, president of Cantor Gaming.

A 10-foot-tall by 100-foot-wide LED screen allows you to watch 34 sporting events at one time. New apps, portable gaming devices, and 118 new betting stations create a more interactive experience, but some sports fans says it's kind of an old throwback.

"It's new. It looks innovative, to a certain degree, but going back to when they used to have individual seats for horse races. It's kind of going back to the future," said sports fan Ron Deck.

Cantor Gaming and the Venetian want to be the first to change the way people view sportsbook betting.

"Most people say, 'Oh, that's that little place in the corner, dark, full of smoke, no one wants to hang out there.' Now we think we bring a really exciting environment here, it's bright, it's colorful," said Amaitis.

The first phase of renovations covered about 10,000 square feet. There is no set date when updates for the rest of the gaming area will be complete.
