LAS VEGAS - Explosive allegations were leveled Wednesday in the massive political corruption case involving local homeowner associations.

The I-Team has learned lawyers for attorney Nancy Quon asked that the indictment against her be dismissed because the District Attorney's office abused the grand jury process.

Along the way, they charge, local prosecutors slimed the reputations of the U.S. Attorney's office and even Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Quon's lawyer Tom Pitaro filed two motions late Wednesday - both of which allege the DA's office manipulated three or four grand juries in obtaining an indictment of Quon and her co-defendant - former Metro Police Officer Ronald Webb.

As part of the various proceedings, allegations were made in open court that the U.S. Attorney's office might have been leaking sensitive information to Quon during the time she was under investigation.

Pitaro also revealed in his motions that questions had been raised about the relationship between Quon and Senator Reid.

One implication was that Reid was "backing Quon" and that this backing would vanish if Reid lost his re-election bid last year.

Pitaro says the allegations against the U.S. attorney and Reid are outrageous and unfounded. He wants the district court to toss out the indictment of Quon, because, he says, the deputy district attorney handling the Quon case leveled the charges without having any proof.
