Michelle Mortensen is an Emmy award winning journalist who joined the 8 News Now team in October 2011.
A California native, Michelle brings more than a decade of experience to the team. After earning two degrees at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, she started anchoring and reporting in Louisiana.
She then made stops in Arkansas, Texas, New York, Vermont and Canada to report and anchor the news for various Fox, ABC and NBC affiliates. Most recently, she worked in Austin, Texas.
In addition to her Emmy recognition for consumer and feature reporting, Michelle has also been honored with several awards from the Associated Press for her medical, political and investigative reports.
Michelle and her husband are the proud parents of a little Yorkie named Daisy and love to travel. She has visited five continents so far and hopes to see all seven in her lifetime. She also loves being a part of the Las Vegas community. She is a member of the Las Vegas Junior League and an active member of her church, ICLV.
