Contract Approved for CCSD Administrators

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas-area school administrators won't have a 1.5 percent pay cut restored, and are making other concessions under a two-year contract that got final approval from school board members.

In exchange, the Clark County School District agreed to maintain health benefits and eliminate seniority as the only basis in layoffs.

Clark County school trustees unanimously approved the two-year contract Thursday. Officials say it will save the district about $1.9 million.

The Clark County Association of School Administrators and Professional-Technical Employees ratified the deal Aug. 17.

Approval of the administrators' contract comes with classes set to begin Monday in the nation's fifth-largest school district. The Clark County Education Association that represents the district's teachers declared an impasse in their contract talks Aug. 10.
