Suspect Arrested in Major Marijuana Bust in Pahrump

LAS VEGAS -- Detectives have arrested the man they believe is behind a major marijuana operation in Pahrump, Nevada.

Amos Cavallo was arrested Wednesday at the Best Western in Pahrump and booked into the Nye County Detention Center. His bail is set at $55,000.

He is facing charges of trafficking marijuana and methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and theft of a public utility.

The Nye County Sheriff's office uncovered the major marijuana cultivating operation earlier in the week after receiving a tip.

Police seized nearly 2,000 plants from two different locations worth $5.7 million. Police say they also discovered that Cavallo had illegally spliced into the electric supply from Valley Electric so he could use the power without paying for it.
