LAS VEGAS -- A business publication is naming Nevada one of the top 10 states for business with neighboring California is listed as the worst state. Nevada officials are hoping more Golden state businesses will consider moving to the Silver State.

According to a report in Chief Executive magazine, California, once a business-friendly state, now has one of the largest governments of all U.S. states. Business owners who were surveyed said state regulators made doing business there tougher.

For years, the Nevada Development Authority has worked to attract California businesses to Nevada which offers a favorable business tax structure. The report shows Nevada ranking in 10th place this year compared to last year when it scored fifth on the list but it is still considered to have a better business climate than the majority of states.

"It's just a great place to live. Good quality of life. Great place to do business," said Alex Garza who is with the Latin Chamber of Commerce.

The commerce is one of several local organizations and agencies that work to attract business from other states and countries. Garza said, aside from the lack of personal income taxes and corporate taxes, there is also affordable housing available in Nevada.

"I think Nevada is capable of sustaining a variety of different businesses," said Garza.

Last summer the NDA released a number of television ads featuring monkeys trying to lure California businesses across the state line.
