LAS VEGAS -- Local rescue groups such as Las Vegas Valley Humane Society are struggling to find homes for hundreds of homeless kittens.
The NSPCA turned to Facebook last month to find foster families for 80 kittens in a 30-day period. Animal advocates say this is one of the worst summer's they have seen in a decade for kitten over-population.
Both groups say spaying and neutering is the only way to overcome the growing problem. The Las Vegas Humane Society and Heaven Can Wait Animal Society offer low cost surgery. One cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 kittens in a seven year period.
