LAS VEGAS -- Former state assemblyman Morse Arberry has been named in a criminal complained filed by the Secretary of State's office. Arberry was charged Friday with six felony counts for allegedly hiding over $120,000 in unreported campaign money.

According to the criminal complaint, Arberry has been charged with perjury and offering false instrument for filing or record.

The Nevada Secretary of State says campaign checks were deposited into Arberry's account and never reported to the state as required by law. Arberry is out of state at the moment and his attorney, George Kelesis, says he has not yet seen the complaint and won't comment.

The AG's Office alleges Arberry filed false campaign contribution reports. According to the complaint, Arberry filed a 2008 expense report listing $17,450 in campaign contributions, but investigators say he failed to disclose an additional $65,750 in contributions.

In another report, Arberry listed $14,350 in contributions, but investigators say he took in an additional $46,545 in contributions.

On a third report filed in 2009, Arberry said he took in $10,500, but investigators say he failed to disclose an additional $9,250.

8 News NOW has been investigating Arberry for years, and covered his failure to pay taxes on a property he owed at the Canyon Gate Country Club.

Arberry resigned from his seat before his term expired. He was seeking a position as a new lobbyist for the Clark County Court system, but was not given the job.
