Contemporary Arts Center:
"In & Out of Whack"
Opening Reception: June 30 and runs through Aug. 13
Artists: Deborah Karpman and Kimberly Hennessy are both artists who carefully walk lines separating extremes such as protection and invasion, strength and weakness, chaos and order.
In Deb's work, images are created by fastidiously cutting up old manuals and guidebooks and then carefully arranging the snippets onto the backs of vintage wallpaper. Kimberly's practice involves a fair amount of detailed drawing, but also a lot of hasty piling, overlapping, pouring, dropping and walking away. When shown together, the work of each artist pushes and pulls at the other in a precariously balanced drama.

What exactly is Talky Trees? It's a 7-hour Arts festival centered around two ideas:
1) Self-expression of the audience such that they and the performers are one and the same! YOU have the gift of art, and we encourage you to realize it.
2) Collaboration between mediums: painters coloring a piece to a poet who then gives his words to the music of others. The artist and the audience? Same people. Every month, 1st Saturday 4-11pm.
This is an art show all about collaboration of all possible mediums. Music, poetry, painting, performance art. What every you are into, bring whatever craft you love and share it with us.
