LAS VEGAS-- Students at Tanaka Elementary are taking advantage of their free time to get healthy and have a little fun.

The 4th and 5th graders play basketball almost every day. At first they didn't have a coach, but that didn't last long. Some teachers have given up their lunch time to be there for the students.

4th grade teacher C.J. McCarthy says he likes to show his support and teach the kids a little discipline.

"I had a couple instances in a game where one of the kids, every time I blew the whistle, he knew exactly why I blew the whistle. He said oh I did this, and that's really what we are trying to do. Give them some rules, have some fun too instead of being chaos."

4th grader Kayla Sanguinetti said it's a great way to stay active and have a lot of fun at the same time.

"I hope this is going to be here next year too because it's really fun to be out here with all your friends and shooting hoops and playing against teams."
