LAS VEGAS -- A Metro police officer is charged with domestic battery and burglary in a case involving his former girlfriend.

Officer David Pisciotta Jr. has been relieved of duty without pay. According to the arrest report, Tiffany Nelson said her ex-boyfriend 24-year-old Pisciotta injured her hand and threw her to the ground as he attempted to grab her car keys during an argument.

Nelson reported the March 18th incident after she says Pisciotta used a spare key to take her purse from her car while it was parked at her place of employment. She told police the two had broke up in January and that Pisciotta did not have permission to have her spare key.

Police say Pisciotta told them Nelson had left her purse in his truck. He said he entered her car to retrieve his Ipod and backpack.

Pisciotta was booked into Clark County Detention Center. He has been with Metro less than two years.
