LAS VEGAS - The Rumor Boutique Hotel at Harmon and Paradise was designed to invoke memories of Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles.
"Rumor Boutique Hotel is one of the only true boutique hotels in Las Vegas," said the Siegel Group Director of Business Affairs Michael Crandall. "We wanted to bring something different to Las Vegas, something this city has never seen."
Crandall says his company also wanted to bring a new and different promotion to Las Vegas.
"We can offer something to our customers that no one else can offer and that's the opportunity to own Rumor for one night, own a piece of Las Vegas for one night or two nights or however many nights you want," he said. "For $13,000 a night, you can own the entire hotel."
As the Siegel Group corners the boutique hotel market in Las Vegas, the major resorts still try to fill their rooms.
The Strip experienced a perfect economic storm. Tourism declined because of the recession. At the same time, CityCenter flooded the market with four thousand new rooms in 2009. The Cosmopolitan added 2,000 hotel rooms to Las Vegas late last year.
Moody's Investors Service predicts Wynn Resorts and Las Vegas Sands Corporation will manage the slow recovery well. Moody's also predicts Planet Hollywood and the Tropicana may become aggressive with their room rates.
Back at Rumor, Crandall says his boutique, chic property is unique.
"We don't really look at Strip hotels or other hotels as competition," he said.
Crandall says for $13,000, customers can book the entire hotel. That includes 150 rooms and access to the entire property and staff. Crandall says that is the same cost for a villa on the Strip. The offer is good from June 15 through December 27. It's based on availability.
