LAS VEGAS-- Some students at the Southeast Career and Technical Academy are mixing math and science with facials and nails. Its part of its cosmetology program at the school.

The program is the only one like it in the state of Nevada. Student Tara Silvaggio says its great working experience. "We're not bad at what we do. We have really good teachers that know a lot."

Besides school work, students also get hands on training with real customers. Anyone can come in and take advantage of their services for a discounted price.

Student Leslie Castillo says they get a little nervous, but know they're not alone. "When you first get your first client, your like oh I am going to mess up? But the teachers really help you a lot so you know that if anything, they're going to teach you how to do it right."

The cosmology program is a masters program so each student gets a 1,800 hour master license when they graduate.

Instructor Jan Garrett-Desimone says, "Most of our students have no trouble getting a job. We work really well with our peers out in industry and they are always looking for our students because they feel they get an exceptional training here."

Anyone who would like to attend the school must apply. It's open to business from 8AM to 3PM Tuesday through Friday. A haircut is $6.00, a blow dry and cut is $12.00.
