LAS VEGAS-- The Heart Association is reaching out to some local high school students to raise awareness about heart disease.
Arbor View students are going "Red" selling heart grams in their school. So far they have sold more than 600.
This is the first time the Heart Association has reached out to the high school community. Students say it's a great way to be involved especially because so many people know someone who is living with the disease which is one of the top killers of all Americans.
"People think that cancer is you know up there, but all the cancers combined don't even amount to what heart disease does," says Shelly Belland with the American Heart Association. She hopes to get more schools involved soon.
Besides selling heart grams, Arbor View students also held a "Red Out" at one of their basketball games. Fans and the team wore red to show their support and raise awareness about the disease.
